CME makes Phase 3 the final clearing-ID migration step

Action required: CME Clearing members and back-office vendors should complete testing for longer alphanumeric clearing trade, allocation-group and allocation identifiers before the 16 November production change. CME has made Phase 3 the final migration phase and will stop sending temporary identifiers when the longer identifiers go live.

CME Clearing has confirmed that Phase 3 is now the final phase of its identifier-transition project. Clearing trade, allocation-group and allocation identifiers will move from up to 10 numeric digits to alphanumeric identifiers starting at roughly 26 characters and capable of extending to 52 characters. The production date remains 16 November 2026.

The final-phase design removes the temporary identifier fallback. Systems that truncate fields, require numeric-only values or continue to depend on temporary identifiers risk trade-capture, allocation, reconciliation, storage or downstream reporting breaks after cutover.

Action owners: CME clearing members, futures commission merchants, back-office and reconciliation teams, data warehouses and vendors consuming CME clearing identifiers.

Next checks: completion of Phase 3 testing, remediation of field-length or validation issues and final production-readiness notices ahead of 16 November.
